Creating Opportunities

It takes jobs to make communities work. We work hard to create them.

We offer direct employment opportunities:

HHDC currently employs 190 people and often has employment opportunities to help manage and maintain our portfolio of properties.

Tropic Construction regularly hires local residents to help build its properties, and actively seeks relationships with Latino, African-American, and women-owned subcontractors.

We offer workforce development programs that help our residents find, hold, and improve their jobs. Programs include English as a second language, computer essentials, and training to become a senior aide.

We provide Roldan Fellowships, which include an internship and scholarships for Latino graduate students studying planning, housing, and community development.

"A chance to show what I can do"

"I came to HHDC as an After School Matters intern in the summer of 2007. For six weeks, which is as long as the program lasts, I worked as an administrative assistant at the downtown corporate office. I enjoyed working in a corporate environment—and in real estate management. view more
